Overview
Saskatchewan Apprenticeship and Trade Certification Commission
The Saskatchewan Apprenticeship and Trade Certification Commission (SATCC) is the industry-led agency responsible for managing the apprenticeship and trade certification system in the province. Established as a corporation in 1999, it functions to ensure that Saskatchewan’s skilled trades workforce is trained to meet the needs of industry and the economy. The commission designates trades, registers apprentices, and oversees the technical training provided by post-secondary institutions.
Certification and Red Seal
- Apprenticeship Training: The SATCC monitors on-the-job training hours and schedules technical training for registered apprentices across nearly 50 designated trades.
- Journeyperson Certification: They administer examinations for tradespeople seeking journeyperson status.
- Red Seal Program: The commission issues Red Seal endorsements, allowing certified tradespeople to have their qualifications recognized across Canada.
MyATC and Services
The commission utilizes MyATC, a self-service online system that allows apprentices and employers to register, track hours, pay fees, and schedule training. The Regina office serves as the headquarters, providing administrative support for these digital services. It is important to note that this location focuses on administration and regulation rather than conducting hands-on technical training on-site.
