Overview
Community Supervision and Rehabilitation
Probation and Parole Services
Regina Community Corrections, located on the second floor of 1942 Hamilton Street, plays a pivotal role in the Saskatchewan justice system by supervising offenders living in the community. This office manages individuals who are subject to court orders such as probation, conditional sentences, and bail supervision. The primary goal is to balance public safety with the rehabilitation of offenders, helping them reintegrate into society as productive citizens through structured supervision and support.
Programs and Reporting
Offenders assigned to this centre are required to report to their Probation Officer regularly. The staff here conduct risk assessments and create case management plans tailored to each individual’s needs. Services include referrals to addiction treatment, anger management counselling, and educational programs. The facility also oversees the Fine Option Program, allowing individuals to settle fines through community service work, and the Community Service Order Program.
Youth and Adult Services
The office provides specialized services for both adult and youth offenders. Youth workers collaborate closely with families and community agencies to address the underlying causes of criminal behavior in young people. For adults, the focus is often on employment stability and reducing recidivism. The central downtown location ensures accessibility for clients relying on public transit to meet their reporting obligations.
Restorative Justice
Beyond supervision, the centre engages in restorative justice initiatives, offering mediation and alternative measures for eligible cases. This approach allows offenders to take responsibility for their actions and make amends to victims and the community without a traditional criminal record in some instances. The office environment is professional and secure, with strict protocols for attendance and behavior.
