Overview
Halton Regional Police – Collision Reporting Centre
Accident Reporting at 20 Division
The Oakville Collision Reporting Centre (CRC) is located within the lobby of the Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) 20 Division station at 95 Oak Walk Drive. This facility is the designated location for reporting motor vehicle collisions in Oakville that result in property damage but no serious injuries. Operated in partnership with Accident Support Services International (ASSI), the CRC streamlines the process of documenting accidents, photographing vehicle damage, and initiating insurance claims, allowing police officers to remain available for emergency calls.
When to Visit the CRC
You must report a collision at this centre if:
- Damage Threshold: The combined damage to all vehicles or property exceeds $2,000.
- No Injuries: There are no injuries to any drivers, passengers, or pedestrians. (If there are injuries, call 9-1-1).
- Drivable Vehicles: The vehicles can be safely driven to the station. If not, they should be towed directly to the CRC.
- No Criminal Activity: There is no suspicion of impaired driving or other criminal offences involved.
Reporting Process
Upon arrival at the 20 Division station:
- Documentation: You must bring your driver’s licence, vehicle registration (ownership), and proof of insurance.
- Inspection: Staff will photograph the damage to your vehicle and apply a ”Reported” sticker.
- Kiosks: Reports are often completed on self-serve kiosks with assistance from staff.
Hours and Access
While the 20 Division police station lobby is open for general inquiries, the Collision Reporting Centre has specific operating hours (typically weekdays). If the CRC is closed, vehicles may sometimes be left in the lot if towed, but drivers should check the schedule. The facility is fully accessible.
