Overview
Cedar Community Police Station
The Cedar Community Police Station is a satellite office of the Nanaimo RCMP, located at 1830 Cedar Road in the Cedar community south of Nanaimo. This station provides a local point of access for residents of Cedar, Yellow Point, and surrounding rural areas who require non-emergency police assistance. Staffed primarily by dedicated volunteers and supported by the RCMP, the office focuses on community engagement and crime prevention. It serves as a convenient alternative to traveling to the main downtown detachment for general inquiries and information.
Services and Programs
While the station does not house holding cells or provide 24/7 emergency response, it offers valuable services such as handling lost and found property and accepting reports for minor crimes where no suspect is present. The office is a hub for community safety programs like Block Watch, Speed Watch, and Citizens on Patrol. Residents can visit to pick up resources on home security, fraud prevention, and personal safety. The station also facilitates communication between the rural community and the main RCMP detachment, helping to identify and address local policing priorities.
