Overview
Provincial Licensing and Registration
Driver and Vehicle Services
- Driver Licensing: Located inside the Midtown Mall, this centre provides full driver licensing services. Residents can renew their driver’s licence, reinstate a suspended licence, replace a lost card, or change their residential address. It is a key resource for keeping Ontario driving privileges current.
- Vehicle Registration: The office handles vehicle permits and licence plates for cars, motorcycles, and trailers. Services include registering new or used vehicles, transferring ownership (family gifts or private sales), and replacing damaged or lost licence plates.
- Abstracts and Records: Drivers can obtain uncertified driver abstracts (driving records) and Used Vehicle Information Packages (UVIP), which are essential for insurance purposes and private vehicle sales respectively.
Health and Identity Cards
- Ontario Health Cards: Staff assist with the registration, renewal, and replacement of OHIP health cards. This includes taking new photos for health cards and converting older red-and-white cards to the more secure photo health card.
- Ontario Photo Card: For non-drivers aged 16 and over, the centre issues the Ontario Photo Card. This government-issued ID is accepted for voting, opening bank accounts, and travel within Canada, providing a vital alternative to a driver’s licence.
- Convenient Access: Situated in Midtown Mall near downtown Oshawa, this location offers ample parking and extended hours on Saturdays, making it accessible for working residents who cannot visit during the week.
