Overview
DriveTest Centre (Burlington)
The DriveTest Centre in Burlington is a private operator authorized by the Ministry of Transportation of Ontario (MTO) to conduct driver examinations. Located at 1250 Brant Street within the Power Centre, this facility is the primary destination for residents seeking to obtain or upgrade their Ontario driver’s licence. Unlike ServiceOntario, which handles administrative renewals, this centre focuses specifically on knowledge and road testing.
Licensing Services
The centre offers a full suite of testing services for various licence classes. New drivers visit to take the written G1 knowledge test and vision screening. The facility conducts road tests for G2 (city driving) and full G (highway driving) licences. It also manages commercial driver testing and motorcycle licensing (Class M). Residents moving from other jurisdictions can process licence exchanges here, subject to eligibility.
- Vision and Knowledge Tests: Walk-in services for written tests (arrive at least one hour before closing).
- Road Tests: By appointment only for passenger vehicles and commercial trucks.
- Licence Exchanges: Processing out-of-province or international licence conversions.
Important Visit Information
Road tests must be booked in advance online or by phone. For written tests, no appointment is necessary, but wait times can be significant. Visitors must bring valid identification and, for road tests, a vehicle in good working order. The centre accepts various payment methods, but it is important to note that they do not process health cards or vehicle registration; those services are exclusive to ServiceOntario.
