Profile
Access to Justice for Everyone
The Centre communautaire juridique de l’Outaouais (CCJO) is a fundamental pillar of the justice system in the Gatineau region, dedicated to providing accessible legal services to eligible citizens. As part of the Quebec Legal Aid network, our mission is to ensure that financial status does not become a barrier to legal representation. We believe that every individual has the right to be heard and defended, regardless of their income. Our team consists of experienced lawyers and support staff who work tirelessly to uphold the rights of the most vulnerable members of our community.
Comprehensive Legal Aid Services
We offer a broad spectrum of legal services covering various areas of law. Our goal is to provide high-quality representation and legal advice to those who qualify for government-funded assistance. Whether you are facing criminal charges or navigating a difficult family situation, our lawyers are here to help.
- Criminal and Penal Law: We provide defense for adults and minors accused of criminal offenses under the Criminal Code or other federal and provincial laws. This includes representation at all stages of the judicial process.
- Family Law: Our team handles sensitive family matters such as divorce, separation, child custody, and child support payments. We strive to protect the best interests of children and families.
- Civil Law: We assist with issues related to social aid, employment insurance, automobile insurance (SAAQ), and workers’ compensation (CNESST). We also handle housing disputes before the Tribunal administratif du logement.
- Youth Protection: We represent parents and children in cases involving the Director of Youth Protection (DYP), ensuring that families’ rights are respected during these challenging proceedings.
- Immigration Law: We offer legal support for refugee claims and other immigration matters for those who meet the eligibility criteria.
Eligibility and Commitment
Eligibility for legal aid is determined based on financial guidelines set by the Quebec government. Services may be provided free of charge or with a financial contribution, depending on your situation. The Centre communautaire juridique de l’Outaouais is committed to treating every client with dignity, respect, and confidentiality. If you are looking for a legal aid lawyer in Gatineau, we are the primary resource to consult.
Justice should not be a luxury. We are here to ensure that the law works for everyone, not just the privileged.
