Overview
Integrated Neighborhood Police Station 26
Poste de quartier 26 (PDQ 26) is a major integrated police station serving a diverse and densely populated territory that includes the borough of Côte-des-Neiges–Notre-Dame-de-Grâce (specifically the Côte-des-Neiges sector), the Town of Mount Royal, and the borough of Outremont. Formed by the merger of the former PDQ 24 and PDQ 26 in 2019, this consolidated unit is designed to offer a robust and flexible response to urban safety challenges. The station operates under the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM), the second-largest municipal police force in Canada.
Public Safety and Community Services
The officers at Station 26 are responsible for maintaining peace, order, and public security across a territory that features significant landmarks such as the University of Montreal, Saint Joseph’s Oratory, and the upcoming Royalmount development. Their mandate covers:
- Criminal Investigations: Handling reports of theft, assault, mischief, and other criminal code offenses.
- Road Safety: Enforcing the Highway Safety Code, particularly in high-traffic zones like Décarie Boulevard and around school corridors.
- Community Relations: The station employs specialized officers who work with local organizations, schools, and vulnerable populations to prevent crime and address social issues like homelessness and mental health crises.
Administrative Procedures
Citizens can visit the station counter to file official police reports for non-urgent crimes (such as theft without violence), request background checks (certificates of good conduct), or obtain information on municipal by-laws. For certain administrative services, such as fingerprinting for civil purposes, it is often required to book an appointment or visit the SPVM headquarters, though the local station acts as a primary entry point for assistance.
