Overview
Central Police Command and Operations
The Service de police de l’agglomération de Longueuil (SPAL) Headquarters, located at 699 Boulevard Curé-Poirier Ouest, is the nerve center of law enforcement for the entire Longueuil agglomeration. Serving the cities of Longueuil, Boucherville, Brossard, Saint-Lambert, and Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville, this facility houses the executive command, major crimes units, and the 9-1-1 emergency dispatch center. It acts as the strategic and operational hub for ensuring public safety across a territory of over 400,000 residents.
Operational Divisions
As the headquarters, this building contains specialized units that handle complex and high-priority police work:
- Criminal Investigations: Detectives specializing in major crimes, sexual assaults, fraud, and organized crime operate from this location.
- Intelligence and Analysis: Teams dedicated to gathering intelligence and analyzing crime trends to deploy resources effectively.
- Emergency Dispatch (9-1-1): The communications centre that receives emergency calls and dispatches police, fire, and ambulance services.
- Command Staff: The offices of the Police Chief and senior administration, responsible for policy, budget, and strategic planning.
- Detention: The facility includes holding cells for individuals who have been arrested and are awaiting processing or court appearance.
24/7 Public Assistance
Unlike smaller community stations, the headquarters is operational 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It serves as a primary point of access for citizens requiring immediate assistance or needing to file urgent reports that cannot be handled over the phone. The lobby provides a secure environment for the public, though security protocols are strictly enforced for entry into the operational areas.
