Federal Government Services
Employment and Financial Support
- Employment Insurance (EI): This centre provides essential assistance to workers who have lost their employment. Staff can help with filing EI applications, submitting bi-weekly reports, and resolving issues related to claim eligibility and payments.
- Public Pensions: Seniors and their families can access services for the Canada Pension Plan (CPP) and Old Age Security (OAS). Agents assist with applications for retirement pensions, survivor benefits, and the Guaranteed Income Supplement (GIS) for low-income seniors.
- Social Insurance Number (SIN): The office issues Social Insurance Numbers, which are required to work in Canada and access government benefits. In most cases, a SIN is issued during the visit, serving newcomers, students, and temporary foreign workers.
Travel and Identity
- Passport Receiving Agent: As a receiving agent, this location accepts standard Canadian passport applications. Processing times are typically 20 business days plus mail time. Note: This is not a specialized Passport Office; urgent or express pickup services are not available here.
- Biometrics Collection: The centre collects biometrics (fingerprints and digital photos) for temporary resident visas, work permits, and study permits, supporting the immigration process for applicants in Canada.
