Operational Scope
The Calgary Police Service (CPS) Airport Unit operates out of the Airport Corporate Centre, providing a dedicated law enforcement presence for one of Canada’s busiest transportation hubs. Unlike standard district offices that serve residential communities, this unit focuses exclusively on the unique security needs of the airport precinct ✈️👮♂️. Their duties include managing traffic flow on airport roadways, responding to disturbances or ”air rage” incidents on aircraft, and conducting perimeter patrols to secure the airfield.
Officers at this location assist with baggage theft investigations, security breaches, and emergency management during critical incidents. While they provide general police assistance, this facility is not a standard community reporting station for non-airport-related crime. Travelers and airport staff rely on this unit for immediate safety interventions and the maintenance of public order within the terminals and parking structures 🚔🛂. The unit also coordinates with the RCMP National Security Enforcement Team when necessary to address broader threats to aviation safety.
