Overview
Central Hub of Public Safety
Windsor Police Headquarters is the primary operations centre for the Windsor Police Service, located at 150 Goyeau Street in the heart of downtown Windsor. This modern facility serves as the command post for the city’s law enforcement efforts, housing the executive administration, criminal investigations bureau, and the emergency 911 dispatch centre. It is a critical infrastructure site ensuring the safety and security of Windsor’s residents 24 hours a day, 365 days a year 🚓.
Public Counter Services
While emergency services are always active, the headquarters features a public lobby that provides essential administrative services. Residents can visit the Information Services counter during business hours for:
- Record Checks: Though often processed online, inquiries regarding criminal record checks and police clearances can be directed here.
- Freedom of Information (FOI): Requests for police reports and incident data under privacy legislation.
- General Inquiries: Reporting non-emergency crimes that require an officer’s attention (when online reporting is not suitable) and general assistance.
Facility Features and Access
The headquarters is strategically located next to the provincial courthouse, facilitating the smooth processing of legal matters. The building is equipped with high-level security measures; all visitors to the secure zones (beyond the public lobby) must undergo security screening. The lobby itself is accessible to the public, but visitors should be aware that collision reporting is handled at a separate facility on Jefferson Boulevard, not at this downtown HQ. Public parking is available in nearby municipal garages and lots, as on-site parking is reserved for police vehicles 🛑.
