- Service Vaughan: Located on the main level, the Service Vaughan contact centre is the primary access point for residents. Here, citizens can pay property taxes, purchase waste bins, pay parking tickets, and submit general service requests regarding road maintenance, snow removal, or waste collection.
- Permits and Licensing: The building houses the Building Standards and By-law Compliance departments. Residents and developers visit to obtain building permits for renovations, pool enclosure permits, and business licenses. It is also the location for the City Clerk’s Office, where marriage licenses are issued and commissioning services are performed.
- Council Chambers: The facility features the Council Chamber, where the Mayor and Members of Council meet to debate policies and pass by-laws. These meetings are generally open to the public, fostering transparency in local governance.
Architectural Excellence and Accessibility
- LEED Gold Certification: Opened in 2011, the City Hall is a model of sustainable design, certified LEED Gold High Performance. It incorporates geothermal heating and cooling, solar panels, and water-efficient landscaping, reflecting the city’s commitment to environmental stewardship.
- Civic Centre Resource Library: The complex includes a high-tech public library branch, integrating knowledge and community space directly with government operations. The site also features a clock tower and a large public square used for community events and flag-raising ceremonies.
