Overview
Official Land Registration for Waterloo Region
Property Title Services
- LRO 58 (Waterloo): This office serves as the official record keeper for all real property transactions in the Region of Waterloo, including Kitchener, Waterloo, and Cambridge. It maintains the Parcel Register, which acts as the government-guaranteed proof of ownership under the Land Titles Act.
- Digital Transition: Most land registration services have moved to the OnLand digital platform. While the physical office at 30 Duke Street West remains a point of contact, professionals and the public are encouraged to search titles and register documents remotely. Physical counter services may be limited to specific inquiries or kiosk access.
- Document Registration: The registry processes vital legal instruments such as Deeds (Transfers), Mortgages (Charges), and Discharges. It also houses deposited Reference Plans (R-Plans) and Plans of Subdivision that define property boundaries and new developments in the growing region.
Location and Access
- Downtown Core: Situated on the second floor of 30 Duke Street West, the office is in the heart of downtown Kitchener, near City Hall. It provides a resource for lawyers, surveyors, and homeowners needing historical abstracts or current title information.
- Public Search: Individuals can search property records to verify ownership, check for liens, or research the history of a lot. Staff can assist with using the computer terminals but are prohibited from providing legal advice regarding property rights.
