Overview
Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc Band Administration
The Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc (TteS) Band Administration Building serves as the governance hub for the Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc people (formerly the Kamloops Indian Band). Located on the reserve lands just across the river from downtown Kamloops, this facility houses the offices of the Chief and Council and the central administrative departments that manage the affairs of the First Nation. It is a focal point for community services, land management, and intergovernmental relations.
Departments and Services
This building functions similarly to a municipal hall, offering a wide array of services to band members and leaseholders on reserve land:
- Lands, Leasing & Taxation: Managing the extensive commercial and residential leaseholds on TteS territory, including property taxation and land use planning.
- Housing & Infrastructure: Overseeing community housing programs, public works, and utilities.
- Social Development: Providing support programs for elders, youth, and families within the community.
- Education: Administering educational funding and programs for TteS students.
Governance
The administration building is the seat of the TteS government, where the Chief and Council deliberate on laws, strategic partnerships, and cultural preservation. It is also where the Natural Resources department works to assert rights and title over the traditional territory. ⚠️ Visitor Info: The office is open to the public during weekdays. Leaseholders needing to pay property taxes or discuss permits should report to the Lands and Taxation front counter.
