Overview
Robert Burnaby Park Tennis and Pickleball Courts
Tucked away in the quiet, forested hills of East Burnaby, the Robert Burnaby Park Tennis and Pickleball Courts offer a peaceful retreat for sports enthusiasts. This facility is part of the historic Robert Burnaby Park, a beloved community landmark known for its Depression-era stonework and lush ravine trails. The courts are located on the upper slopes of the park, accessible via Hill Avenue, and provide a secluded atmosphere surrounded by mature trees.
Court Configuration
The facility is designed to accommodate the growing popularity of racquet sports with a shared-use model:
- Tennis: There are 3 dedicated tennis courts with hard surfaces.
- Pickleball: The courts feature painted overlays allowing for up to 10 pickleball courts. Note that players must bring their own nets for pickleball, although lockboxes with nets may be available for registered residents during the season.
Play Information
These courts are unlit, meaning play is restricted to daylight hours (dawn to dusk). The setting is ideal for those who prefer a quieter game away from the noise of major thoroughfares. Like all City of Burnaby outdoor courts, usage is first-come, first-served. Courteous play is enforced, with a 30-minute rotation rule when others are waiting. The surrounding park area features a disc golf course, a playground, and picnic areas, making it a perfect spot for a full day of family activities.
