Retail Partnership Model

This ServiceOntario location operates under a unique retail partnership model, situated inside the Staples store at Yonge Street and Dawson Manor Boulevard. Part of a provincial initiative to improve accessibility and extend service hours, this centre allows residents to access government services during evenings (until 8:00 p.m. on weekdays) and on Saturdays. This integrated setting is designed to offer a convenient ”one-stop” experience, combining retail shopping with essential provincial transactions, distinct from the traditional standalone government offices which often maintain more restricted operating times.

Health and Identity Services

The centre provides comprehensive identity and health documentation services for Ontario residents.

• Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP): Staff facilitate the renewal, replacement (lost/stolen), and registration of Ontario Health Cards. This includes photo capture services. Note: Appointments are strongly recommended for health card services, and the last appointment is typically scheduled 30 minutes prior to closing.
• Ontario Photo Card: Residents aged 16+ who do not possess a driver’s licence can apply for or renew their Ontario Photo Card here, which serves as a government-issued photo ID for voting and daily identification needs.
• Organ Donation: Citizens can register or update their consent for organ and tissue donation on-site.

Driver and Vehicle Transactions

A wide range of Ministry of Transportation services are available at this counter.

• Licensing: The office handles driver’s licence renewals and reinstatements. It does not conduct road tests; those must be booked at a DriveTest Centre.
• Vehicle Registration: Vehicle owners can renew licence plate stickers (now free of charge but still mandatory), register new or used vehicles, and obtain vehicle abstracts (records).
• Permits: The centre issues accessible parking permits for individuals with health conditions, provided they have the necessary medical certification.

Leveraging the infrastructure of the Staples store, this location is fully accessible. It features barrier-free entrances, accessible parking spaces, and a lower-level counter to accommodate customers using wheelchairs. The facility also provides accessible public washrooms.
