Mobile Business Licensing Office
The Mississauga Mobile Business Licensing Office, located at 3235 Mavis Road, is the regulatory hub for all mobile business operations within the City of Mississauga, Ontario. Managed by the City’s Enforcement Division, this office ensures that businesses operating without a fixed location-such as taxis, tow trucks, and food vendors-comply with municipal by-laws and safety standards 📋. The facility plays a crucial role in maintaining consumer protection and orderly business conduct across the city.
Licensing Services
This office is responsible for issuing and renewing licenses for a wide variety of mobile business categories. Key services include:
- Vehicle Licensing: Processing applications for taxicabs, limousines, airport transportation vehicles, and driving school instruction cars 🚕.
- Food & Vending: Regulating food trucks, ice cream trucks, refreshment carts, and other mobile food service providers to ensure health and safety compliance 🍦.
- Tow Trucks: Licensing for tow truck operators and vehicle pound facilities, a critical service for keeping city streets clear and safe.
- Trade Licensing: Handling permits for specific trades and personal services that may operate on a mobile basis.
Compliance and Enforcement
The Compliance and Licensing Enforcement team operates from this location. They are tasked with:
- By-law Enforcement: Investigating complaints and ensuring all mobile businesses adhere to the Business Licensing By-law.
- Inspections: Conducting vehicle and document inspections to verify insurance, safety certificates, and driver credentials.
- Public Safety: Ensuring that all licensed operators have cleared necessary criminal record checks and driver abstract reviews 👮.
Application Process
While many driver’s licenses can now be renewed online, most owner’s licenses and new applications must be processed in person. The office operates on an appointment-only basis to ensure efficient service. Applicants are advised to book their appointment online and arrive with all required documentation, including proof of Canadian citizenship or work status, valid provincial driver’s license, and insurance certificates. The office is located on the ground floor of the Transportation and Works building.
