Driver and Vehicle Services
- Driver Licensing: Located in the SmartCentres Guelph complex, this centre provides comprehensive driver licensing services. Residents can renew their driver’s licence, replace a lost or stolen card, change their residential address, or reinstate a suspended licence. Uncertified driver abstracts are also available for insurance or employment purposes.
- Vehicle Registration: The office handles vehicle permits and licence plates. Services include registering new or used vehicles, transferring ownership (family gifts or private sales), and obtaining Used Vehicle Information Packages (UVIP) required for selling a car.
- Accessible Permits: Staff process applications for Accessible Parking Permits, issuing permanent, temporary, or traveler permits to eligible individuals with mobility disabilities.
Health and Identity Cards
- Ontario Health Cards: Residents can register for the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP), renew expiring health cards, and replace lost cards. This location is equipped to take photos for the biometric health card, ensuring continued access to provincial healthcare services.
- Ontario Photo Card: For non-drivers aged 16 and over, the centre issues the Ontario Photo Card. This government-issued ID is accepted for voting, opening bank accounts, and domestic travel, providing a vital alternative to a driver’s licence.
