Profile
Dedicated Labour Lawyers for Unions and Employees
Caley Wray is a premier labour law firm located in downtown Toronto, with a history spanning over 50 years. We are proud to exclusively represent trade unions, employee associations, and individual employees. Unlike many firms that try to walk both sides of the line, our loyalty is clear: we fight for the rights of workers. Our team of experienced labour lawyers understands the unique challenges faced by unions and their members in today’s changing economy. We provide aggressive representation and strategic advice to ensure that workers’ voices are heard and their rights are protected.
Union Representation and Advocacy
We act as general counsel to a wide variety of trade unions in the construction, transportation, industrial, and service sectors. Our services for unions include:
- Collective Bargaining: Negotiating collective agreements that secure better wages, benefits, and working conditions for members.
- Grievance Arbitration: Representing unions in disputes over contract interpretation, discipline, and discharge.
- Labour Board Proceedings: Handling certification applications, unfair labour practice complaints, and jurisdictional disputes before the Ontario Labour Relations Board and the Canada Industrial Relations Board.
- Strike and Lockout Strategy: Advising unions on their legal rights and obligations during industrial disputes.
Protecting Individual Employee Rights
In addition to our work with unions, we represent individual employees in legal matters that affect their livelihood. We assist with:
- Wrongful Dismissal: Helping non-unionized employees obtain fair severance packages when they are let go.
- Human Rights: Representing individuals who have suffered discrimination or harassment in the workplace based on disability, race, gender, or other protected grounds.
- Workers’ Compensation (WSIB): Advocating for injured workers who have been denied benefits or require assistance with return-to-work plans.
- Professional Discipline: Defending professionals facing disciplinary charges from their regulatory bodies.
Experienced and Accessible
Our firm is built on a foundation of hard work, integrity, and accessibility. We know that labour disputes can be urgent and stressful. That is why we strive to be responsive and available when our clients need us most. Our team includes lawyers who are fluent in French, allowing us to provide bilingual legal services to our diverse clientele. We have a proven track record of success in both federal and provincial jurisdictions, and our lawyers are widely respected by arbitrators and the courts.
Standing with workers. Fighting for fairness. We are your voice in the workplace.
